About this place

Added by Will Hughes

This is an incredible 13-mile hike that packs in countless views of Yosemite Valley's most famous landmarks.

Beginning at 4400 feet of elevation in the bottom of Yosemite Valley, this trail will take you up about 3000 feet over 13 miles. You'll finish the hike at Glacier Point and be richly rewarded with one of the most spectacular views of Half Dome in the park.

If you are interested in seeing landmarks such as Half Dome, Sentinel and Cathedral Rocks, or El Capitan, gorgeous waterfalls like Vernal, Nevada, Yosemite, and Bridalveil Falls or scenic overlooks of the valley such as Glacier, Taft, Dewey, Crocker, Stanford, and Inspiration Points this is a hike for you!

This trail can be walked both directions, either starting at Tunnel View or Glacier Point. Doing it from West to East is more challenging as you will be doing more uphill climbing, but in my opinion it is definitely worth it. Beginning the hike down in the valley and then getting to walk all down its rim and end at Glacier Point is an awesome experience!

Great way to experience Yosemite
Didn't even realize that Yosemite Valley existed from up on the south rim. Saw a handful of people and other than that just magnificent ...

Good to do from the other direction as well
I've done this hike from Glacier Point to Tunnel View and it's just as amazing! Great views of the valley all along the way.
