Junction Campground, Mono County

Junction campground is by far one of my favorite campsites when I am visiting the High Sierra and Tuolumne Meadows. The only downside is, you can only camp certain months; usually from June through October when highway 120 is open. 

The Junction campground is far away from the crowds of Yosemite National Park, yet it is very close to the Tioga pass entrance of the park. The campsite is overlooking beautiful meadows and hills, and it is close to Saddleback Lake, Ellery Lake, and Tioga Lake. 

Junction campground is a first come, first-served campsite; therefore, arrive early enough to secure a camp spot. It is located at the junction of Highway 120 and Saddlebag Lake road at 9,600ft. The campground has only 13 campsites; therefore, you can have enough privacy. Most of the campsites have a shade to cool off during hot summer months. 

The campground only has pit toilets and no water spigots. You need to bring your own water. Every site has a picnic table, fire ring, and a food storage locker. 

I don't fish, but a lot of the campers were fishing along the creek nearby. Make sure to bring your hammock as well since there are a lot of trees you can hang your hammock. For a leisurely morning walk, check out the Nanutak nature trail nearby.
