Eagle peak offers amazing views of the Yosemite Valley from the top of the Three Brother and helps get you away from the crowds in the valley. Challenge yourself with this strenuous hike!
Get a permit. Any overnight backpacking in Yosemite requires a permit from the Wilderness Center. Before you leave make sure to get one!
Get a bear canister! Bears are active in Yosemite and all backpackers must take the required measures to keep food away from them!
Start at Camp 4. Eagle Peak utilizes the same trailhead from the Yosemite Valley as does the Upper Yosemite Falls. Take this trail approximately 3.2 miles before heading west toward Eagle Peak. There will be trail signs for reference. Follow these to Eagle Peak for another 3.1 miles.
When you arrive at the summit be sure to set up camp somewhere that is not right at the Point. Wilderness Ethics and regulations prohibit this. Make sure to carefully follow the rules provided with your Wilderness Permit.
Enjoy the view! Sunset is amazing up here and so is sunrise. When finished head back down to Half Dome Village for a celebratory pizza and a beer!
