Bountiful wildflowers, dozens of lakes, and an incredible night sky. Add in the luminescent peaks of Quartzite rising 1000 ft. out of the surrounding Medicine Bow Mountains and it's hard to take a bad photo.
Starting at the Medicine Bow Peak TH you have easy access to Lake Marie, Mirror Lake, and Lookout Lake for sunrise. When the water is calm these crystal clear lakes provide incredible reflections of Medicine Bow Peak. Nearby Snowy Range Pass provides dramatic views of the range, and on a clear day, you can see distant peaks in Colorado.
With very little in the way of civilization surrounding the mountains, the Snowy Range area provides amazingly dark night skies. Opportunities for photographing the Milky Way or even a meteor shower are abundant here.
Most camping is dispersed national forest camping so please make sure to follow the leave no trace principles.
