About this place

Added by Eric Schuette

Walk the 1.5 mile Joyner Ridge Trail loop with great views of Devil's Tower, one of the most iconic rocks in America, as well as abundant wildlife and flowers.

There is a nice-sized parking lot at Joyner Ridge. From the parking lot, the Devil's Tower looms very large! From the parking lot, the trail is obvious and easy to follow. There are occasional overlooks or different vantage points from the trail. The Joyner Ridge trail makes a 1.5-mile loop that is mostly level and easy to follow.

For a longer walk you can combine the Joyner Ridge Trail with the Red Beds Trail for a ~5-mile walk that encircles the entire tower. If doing the Red Bed trail make sure to have a trail map to ensure you follow the correct trails for the roughly 5-mile loop. Also note, that the site is sacred to local Indian tribes and should be treated with respect whether day hiking or climbing.

Patience is rewarded
Traffic can be quite heavy leading to the National Monument and parking lends to challenges, especially if towing a camper. So be patient ...

best way to see the monument imo
If you're not climbing to the top but want the best experience in the park, hike this trail.
