About this place

Added by Jon Mattrisch

Golden wetlands and acres of natural vistas. Abundant wildlife and miles of trails. Regardless of season, Wisconsin's Horicon Marsh is one of the most beautiful natural areas in the entire state.

Horicon Marsh is located about an hour north of Milwaukee. The wildlife refuge features several trails ranging from a quarter mile up to nearly 3 miles long. Terrain can vary slightly, but most of the land, especially around the wetlands, is flat. The marsh features an abundance of wildlife. Hundreds of species of birds visit the marsh throughout the year, offering many opportunities for bird watchers. The marsh also has a newer visitor's center with an interactive video tour of the surrounding area. There are a few overlook spots along the trails that offer stunning views that seem to span for miles. Regardless of the time of year, the Horicon Marsh is a must-see.

Tips:-Make sure to fill your car up with gas before heading out as there are few gas stations near the marsh.-Hit the bathroom before heading out onto the longer trails; you'll want to explore it all and there are few, if any, bathrooms along the trails
