Climb Eagle Tower in Peninsula State Park

From Highway 42 in Door County, WI, there are two entrances into Peninsula State Park, on the south and north ends of the park. If coming from the south, turn left onto Shore Road and take this road around the perimeter of the park until reaching the parking lot at the base of Eagle Tower. If traveling from the north, turn right onto Shore Road at the north entrance to the park, and travel to the parking lot at Eagle Tower. There are daily and hourly fees for accessing the park ($8 and $5, respectively, for WI residents).

The convenient parking lot at the base of Eagle Tower provides easy access to these scenic views. Climb the steps of the 180-foot tower to reach the top. At the top, you will be rewarded with 360-degree views of Peninsula State Park, Green Bay, surrounding islands, and the Michigan shoreline across the bay. Across the bay you will see Horseshoe Island, which is only accessible by private boat. On a windy summer day, you will see sailboats all across the bay.

Also, at the top of the tower, you will find an old metal lookout pipe/monocular to focus your view on specific features around the bay. Many of the notable features are listed on a plaque on the lookout.
