About this place

Added by Ashley Stimpson

Relax, explore, and enjoy George Washington's favorite spa town and a West Virginia gem.

Berkeley Springs State Park is the only government-run spa in the United State and worth a weekend excursion. The hot springs here flow at a constant 74.3 degrees and have long been thought to possess restorative and healing powers for both body and mind.

On one end of the park you'll find the Roman bathhouse, where you can rent a private room and soak in 750 gallons of 102-degree mineral water, straight from the source. On the other side of the park is the main bathhouse, visitor's center, and gift shop, where you can enjoy a whirlpool soak, massage services, and saunas. Note that the Roman bathhouse is couple-friendly, while the main bathhouse is divided by gender. Towels are provided in both, bathing suits are optional. The park encompasses about one large city block.

The town of Berkeley Springs is a delight, brimming with art, antiques, amazing food, and a BB on every corner.
