About this place

Added by Isaac Desautels

Get out of the city and travel to the closet beach town to Seattle. Westport is Washington's premier beach town and is perfect for learning to surf. Multiple rental shops make getting surf gear easy, and beach access parking ensures that you will be on the beach in no time.

During warm summer days in Seattle it is nice to leave the city and nothing is better than the beach. Westport is a small coastal town west of Aberdeen. Westhaven State Park offers the easiest access to beach parking and is the best beginner beach to try surfing for the first time. If you want to surf, Westport Surf Shop offers cheap rentals and the owner, Al, is quite the character who is very helpful to new surfers.

The surf report is important, but summer offers usually small waves and multiple sand bars offer different types of waves. If you are looking to lounge on the beach in the sunshine, just park your car and walk a few hundred feet to an expansive sandy beach. Hiking trails offer a different walks down the coast. After surfing and hiking, relax on the beach for a sunset to end your day. Take in the scenic views of the Olympic Mountains while watching the sun dip below the horizon.
