About this place

Added by Rose Freeman

Snowshoe along the ridge of a frozen lake and through a dense cedar/birch/larch forest. Build a snowman on a beach.

Begin this hike at the trailhead to the nature trail at East Sullivan Lake Campground just 14 miles from Ione, Washington. Take a right at the first fork and continue on through the cedar forest until you reach a viewpoint above the lake at 0.5 mile. The next 3.5 miles wind through a pine, larch, and birch forest along the ridge above Sullivan Lake. The trail ends at Noisy Creek Campground, where you can leave a second car and drive back to East Sullivan Campground, or hike back 4 miles.

Before you go, check with the Sullivan Lake Ranger station to get a road and trail report! If there has been a big storm and not many snowshoers recently MSR snowshoes for mountain terrain would be best, but rolling hill terrain snowshoes should work great too.

Bring a friend or your family to this Inland Northwest gem snowshoe adventure!
