About this place

Added by Austin Johnson

Beautiful winter views stretching for miles along the highway 2 corridor

You start out at Stevens Pass just across the street from the lodge. The trailhead is slightly hidden but it is located to the left of the substation. Parking is plenty before ski-season.

Once you are all geared up, you wanna hit the trail running cause this is a long one to snowshoe. With shorter days comes shorter hikes. Being 11.6 miles, this hike will be just within reach of completion while it is daylight.

This hike starts out fairly flat, and most of the first 2-3 miles is actually  a very gradual downhill. It is barely noticeable. Once you get to this point the short climb to the top begins. You will pass frozen creek after frozen creek. Adding to the fun are the trees which fall over the path due to an excessive amount of snow on their limbs.

As soon as you see Mt. Lichtenberg, you have have reached the top of the hike. From here, it is backdown and into the bowl where the lake is located. This is a beautiful area and there is a vault toilet near it as well.

While at the lake you can walk around exploring its shores. Next to the trail is a sandy beach which is a great area to break and have lunch as it offers views of Mt. Lichtenberg.

On the way back down make sure to enjoy the views as they offer a different perspective than when you came up. Please also pack out whatever you bring in.
