About this place

Added by Warren Behymer

Head out on a full day run up to several lakes - Hyas, Tuck, and Robin. If you're lucky, you will see mountain goats at Robin, I ran into a couple of Deer on the trail. You can also swim, fish, or just sit by the water and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Starting Elevation: 3400 Feet
Ending Elevation: 6178 Feet
Round Trip Run: 17 Miles
Total Elevation Gained for the Day: 4100 Feet

It's best to drive to the trailhead the night before and camp out (I slept in my Jeep to get an early start on the next morning). The parking lots are jammed full on the weekends and cars can be parked on the side of the road about .5 mile away from the trailhead.

Start your run on Trail Number 1376 Deception Pass Trail and for the first 3 miles it is pretty flat. At about the 1.5 mile mark you will see Hyas Lake on your left hand side. Look for a camp spot that is open to get a view of the lake. The trail is flat for about another .75 to 1 mile. Just before Little Hyas Lake, you will start a slow and steady up hill climb.

About the 3 mile mark, the uphill climb will get a little steeper and you will come across a bunch of switch backs. Continue on until you hit the 2.4 mile mark. You will see a post on the left hand side. If you go straight, you'll continue on to Deception Pass, but you want to make the right and head down hill a bit to Tuck and Robin Lakes.

Once you cross a dried out stream with fallen trees, you will make an elevation gain of about 1100 feet for 1.1 miles. You will scramble over trees and rocks, but the trail is well defined for you to follow.

The next lake you come to is Tuck Lake; you will come out looking across the lake, if you follow the beach to the right you will see a trail that will lead you up and behind a rock and back down to the log jam on Tuck Lake. Cross the log jam and now the adventure begins. From here on out, it is an uphill climb for about 900 feet and a stretch run of 1.5 miles to Robin Lakes. Keep an eye out for the cairns and follow them. They are small and sometimes hard to spot, they are also close together. Take a break on your way up to look back at Tuck and Hyas Lake and a view of Mount Daneil.

Just before you get to Robin Lakes you will see a bunch of Carins in front of you, go past them and you get a wonderful view of the lakes. Make your way down and enjoy them!

Driving Directions:
From I-90 take exit 80. Drive north on SR-903 to Salmon la Sac. Fork right and continue up Cle Elum Valley Road (FR-4330) for 12 rough miles to the trailhead.

You will need the Northwest Forrest Pass to park here. Or pay the $5.00 for a day/overnight pass.
