About this place

Hike to the highest point in the San Juans. This is a 7-mile hike with about a 1,500 foot elevation gain. From the summit, get great views of the Cascade and Olympic mountains, the Canadian Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island, and all of the San Juans. Duration: 3-4 hours.

This 7 mile round-trip loop hike takes you to the mountain's summit. From here you'll be able to take in an amazing view.

During the hike, you'll head around the left side of Mountain Lake, and then continue on to Twin Lakes, before starting your jaunt to the top of Mt. Constitution. The hike around the lakes (stay to the left of Twin Lakes) is more of an easy stroll. Once you hit the trail to head up Constitution, get ready for a steep, switchback trail. In the first mile up the mountain, you'll gain around 1,000 feet. The good news about hiking up the mountain is that the views get more plentiful as you continue to head up.

Once you've hit the top, you'll be joined by the people who choose to drive up. Be glad you chose to get out and move around. While you're at the summit, take the time to enjoy the views all the way to Rainier. On your way back, for a quick trek back to the car, jump on the Little Summit Trail.

Once you've finished the hike and are waiting for the ferry, reward yourself with a beer or two at Island Hoppin' Brewery.
