Maple Glade Rain Forest Trail

The Quinault Valley receives an average of 12 feet of rain per year which maintains the temperate rain forest ecosystem. The Quinault Rain Forest is located within the Olympic National Park and is located on the N. Shore Road about 6 miles off of HWY 101. 

Once you arrive to the ranger station you'll see a sign directing you to the Maple Glade Trail. Because this is a rain forest there's a good chance it's raining, so wear your rain gear. I also recommend buying the $1 dollar brochure at the beginning of the trail head, its interactive and has stations to stop at along the trail to learn about your environment and surroundings. There's chances of seeing elk and cougar, so keep your eyes peeled!  

Once you finish this short trail, move onward to the Kestner Homestead Trail that branches off the maple glade trail. This is about 1.3 miles round trip. If you're looking for more rain forest scenery, I recommend taking a tour of the hoh rain forest this is apart of the Olympic National Park as well. It's located about 60 miles north on 101.
