Mt. Spokane Summit

Mt. Spokane State Park is just 45 minutes outside of Spokane and a great day trip hike spot! Drive into Mt. Spokane State Park and then to the top of Mt. Spokane until you reach the lower Selkirk Lodge parking lot on the right. Trail 130 begins across the road next to the gate that closes the Vista House road for the winter. Traverse through the trees continue up on the narrow trail for 0.5 miles. When you reach the junction, turn left onto trail 131 and hike up to Bald Knob Campground. There is a covered area with picnic tables at Bald Knob, a great place to heat up some coffee and hot chocolate!

If you choose to ascend to the summit, continue straight through the campground. Pass the campground restrooms and continue on the trail through the trees toward the tower on the summit. Do not cross the road! Once through the trees, head straight up the mountain toward the summit. Keep your eye out for alpine skiers exploring outside the groomed ski area.

Once you reach the summit road near the tower, follow it until you reach the Vista House! From here, you can loop back down on Trail #290 or return the way. you came.

Visit the Vista House on the weekends from 10:30-2:30 and enjoy coffee and hot chocolate prepared for you. If you’re looking to avoid crowds, explore this trail on a week day!
