About this place

Added by Rose Freeman

Quartz Mountain Lookout offers up great views of Spokane, the Selkirk Mountains, and the valley below! The highest point is 5,300 feet.

Drive to Mt. Spokane State Park and park at Selkirk Lodge. This hike can only be accessed before the ski area opens because the trail up to the lookout is along part of the cross country ski area. If heading out during winter months, get there before the ski slopes open.

You may need snowshoes for this hike depending on how much snow is on the ground when you choose this trail. With more snow, I would obviously recommend snowshoes! Follow the wide cross country ski trails and signs for "lookout". After 1.5 miles, take the narrow trail to the left marked with a green ribbon. This trail leads up to the lookout as well as the wide trail, but the narrow one is more fun in the snow!

At the top, enjoy coffee at the picnic table and climb up the tower to see unique views of Mount Spokane to the north. See if you can find the Vista House at the summit of Mt. Spokane!
