About this place

Added by Rose Freeman

Meadowdale Beach is a 2.2-miles roundtrip walk from the parking area. Explore a well maintained mossy trail through giant trees in an old forest to a rocky Pacific Northwest beach on Puget Sound! Views west of the Olympic Peninsula.

If you plan to hike to this beach on the weekend, arrive early because the parking lot fills up fast. From the trailhead, hike down through an old forest along a stream to reach Meadowdale Beach Park. Take in the sounds of birds, wildlife, and the stream adjacent to the trail. At one mile you will reach the park and the trail splits directions.

At the park there are several attractions for large groups or small parties. You can reserve picnic shelters, play volleyball, or use the grassy field for any number of activities.

Past the park continue another 1/4 mile to the railroad tunnel. Pass under the tunnel and arrive at the sandy rocky beach. Be prepared with waterproof footwear because the stream also passes under the railroad tunnel and it is often a wet walk to the beach. If the tide is out you can walk a half mile in either direction on the beach. Watch for sea lions and ferries out on the water! Sunsets are beautiful on this beach; however, take note that the gate at the trailhead parking lot closes at dusk.

My favorite place to eat after this hike is Anthony's Beach Cafe in Edmonds! Perfect ending to a Northwest adventure day.

Happy exploring!
