From a remote valley in the North Cascades, hike to the pristine Agnes Gorge cut into the landscape, with wild, rushing water, rock, and waterfalls.
If you find yourself in Washington State's remote Stehekin Valley, which is situated at the head of Lake Chelan in the heart of the North Cascades, and is accessible by ferry, float plane, or hiking trail, Agnes Gorge is a must-do day hike from the High Bridge area. By hiking or by Stekekin Valley shuttle, reach the High Bridge Campground area, and hike up valley until you come across the Agnes Gorge trail start (not to be confused with Agnes Creek trail start, which is a separate trail altogether). After hitting the trail, hike the gradual 2.5 miles (5 miles roundtrip) to a beautifully remote gorge, pristine with wild blue waters, rocks, and waterfalls. About one mile into the hike, hike briefly through a one-off grove of aspens. Be sure to hike the entire trail to the end, which holds the true reward of the hike, the gorge itself.
