About this place

Added by Joe Kiesel

A steep trail up to Norse Peak with great views of Mount Adams, Mount Rainier, Mount Hood, Glacier Peak, and the Olympic on a clear day.

Start out in Crystal parking lot A. There is a small and steep trail that heads up the hill labeled as Silver Creek Trail. The trail follows a horse trail for the majority of the route and gets renamed Bullion Basin Trail shortly after you enter the woods, so when it doubt keep following the hoof prints up and follow signs for Bullion Basin.

At about 2 miles in you will come into an opening with a small pond/marsh. The trail splits here allowing you to travel left and up towards the PCT or right which also connects with the PCT but adds a bit of distance to your trip if you are going to Norse Peak.

Once you reach the ridge, you will reach a T in the trail, to head to Norse Peak, take a left, the right takes you on the PCT into the Bullion Basin and a larger loop to Crystal Peak.

Follow the well defined trail through the remains of the Norse Peak Wilderness wildfire until you reach the saddle that allows you to head down into Basin Lake/Cement Basin, or left on a small trail towards Norse Peak.

Take the small trail to the left along an exposed path up to the summit.

On a clear day, you can get views of Mount Adams, Mount Rainier, Mount Hood, Glacier Peak, and the Olympics.

Head back from where you came or explore the other trails in the area.
