Hike Lyle Cherry Orchard

This hike is actually on a nature preserve owned by the Friends of the Columbia Gorge, on the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge. It's fairly unknown and you can enjoy amazing views of the Gorge, wildflowers during the springtime, and a trek through an old oak forest. The hike begins at an unmarked trail, just off the large turn off on the north side of the Lewis and Clark Hwy just east of the tunnels near Lyle. The trail winds its way steeply through a grove of trees. After a half mile, you emerge to gorge views and meadows filled with springtime wildflowers. 

Around 1.7 miles in or so you reach the entrance to the old oak forest. Continue on until you reach a junction with a dirt road then head to the right. You will enter the old cherry orchard and receive more views of the Gorge. 

The hike back down allows you to enjoy the many spectacular views on this hike. Springtime is the best time to do this hike.

WARNING: There is an abundance of ticks and poison oak. Additionally, rattlesnakes sometimes like to hang out in the tall grass.
