Camp at Salt Creek

This county park is great for day use or overnight camping. Half the campsites are about 20 feet from the water, so you can hear waves crashing on the rocks as you sleep.

A short walk from all the sites going east, you will end up at a large field with picnic tables and a playground for kids (visible as you enter the park by car), and going west from there you eventually run in to multiple staircases that lead down to the beach. It's rocky, and it's best to go there at low tide to see lots of marine life in the tide pools.

It's possible to actually climb up onto the island that you see in the photos, but make sure you're on and off of it during low tide, or else you'll be stuck there until the tide goes down again.

From the campsites, you're able to see out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca to watch the gray whales breaching and eagles and ospreys soaring above you.
