Enjoy stunning views of Quechee Gorge and close proximity to the trail to hike into the gorge. If you're making a longer stay, you'll be closely located to the Northeast Kingdom in VT and the White Mountains in NH for more adventures.
Located on the Ottauquechee River, Quechee State Park offers camping options right beside one of Vermont's most famous gorges—Quechee Gorge. The steel bridge that passes over the 165 ft. gorge is just one of many spectacular views in this area. Quechee State Park is on Route 4 and easily accessible from I-89 coming from north or south. The campground offers showers, potable water, horseshoe pits, volleyball nets and trail access to the gorge trail. Fires are permitted and wood is for sale at the main office. Quechee Gorge is a great area to explore if you have a day or two, and the state park campground allows the best access for those looking to stay overnight in the area. Stargazing from the bridge or gorge trails is especially awesome, since there is very little light pollution in the area. Vermont summers are usually mild and warm during the days, but the nights can dip into cooler temperatures. Be prepared for cool nights even during the warm months.
For a local dining tip: head north on I-89 from the Quechee State Park for about 15 miles to Worthy Burger, an amazing, locally sourced burger spot with a great selection of world famous VT craft beers. From I-89 Worthy Burger is off exit 2, and on the way you'll pass one of the most photogenic steel bridges in VT on your left.
