Climbing in the Lone Peak Cirque

Lone Peak reaches 11,253 feet at its summit. It's alpine feel is unique as it stands above the busy city below. While this gem is one of the highlights in the Wasatch range, it must be earned. A long steep approach, best done at night in the summer months, deposits you in the high meadow surrounded by high granite walls.

There are a few different approaches to this area, but the Jacob's Ladder Trail is the most direct. It is steep and very difficult. Water can only be found in the cirque when snow is still present. Usually snow stays until mid to late July.

It is possible to hike to the summit and all routes are walk off's.
