About this place

Added by Derrick Lytle

Beautiful sandstone arch. Not as trafficked or touristy as Arches National Park or Moab. Excellent camping spots nearby.

Duchman's Arch is visible from I-70 but ask anyone about it and they will look at you with a blank face. It's a great medium sized sandstone arch but getting there takes time and patience driving down sandy, rutted out, washboard roads.

To get to the arch, take exit 131 and turn east. Follow the frontage road until it turns to dirt. From here, follow the main road and follow the old and sun chapped signs that say "Dutchman Arch". The arch is right next to the parking area and requires little to no hiking.

Dutchman Arch, while not famous like Delicate Arch, is very photogenic and offers beautiful lines and rock colors. Shooting the arch at night is awesome as the skies are dark. Come spend a day out here and explore the area.

The road goes from very smooth to rocky to washed out to sand so please take caution when traveling here. I made it out to the arch in 2WD but the road will be extremely difficult in rainy weather or when theres's snow.

There is a small sandy parking lot near the arch but no other facilities. In the summer the area is burning hot and in the winter extremely cold as the arch sits at around 7000 feet. Prepare for this. While you are close to highway the nearest exit is miles away.
