The Shoe Tree is a great spot to stretch those legs along the loneliest road in America, Route 50. Be sure to bring a camera to capture this great landmark.
The shoe tree on Highway 50 is difficult to miss because it's literally the only tree along the highway for miles. Keep your eyes peeled after marker 81 if you're heading east and you'll find The Shoe Tree. Signatures from cross country travelers cover the lower branches of the deceased tree as well as dozens of shoes in place of what used to be leaves a great a long time ago. Hop out and be sure to pull the car safely off to the side of the road seeing as this is a high speed road with lots of fatigued drivers. Great place to stretch your legs on the long journey across the barren Route 50.
