About this place

Added by Jake Hougaard

Right Close to Snowbird. Hike along the river in a beautiful mountain setting. Great Photography along the way.

Little Cottonwood Creek flows right through Snowbird Ski Resort and there are a few beautiful locations to go shoot the river at. The best place to start hiking down the river is right by where the tram takes off. That is just below the Cliff Lodge and right by the Peruvian Lift. There's a restaurant down there and you just start right by the restaurant. Hiking down from there it can get a little thick through the bushes and trees so there is a road that runs a few hundred feet to the north of the river. Most of the best places are right there close to the road that runs down through Snowbird, down by other buildings and areas up there. Hiking down the river isn't hard, the area is pretty flat but you can hike for a half mile down from Cliff Lodge along the river before it gets too steep on the edges.

To get the right angles sometimes I have to find a good place to cross and I have to walk in the river, so bring shoes to do that if you're looking to get the best angles on the shots. There are a couple of spots right near the Reneer Pond that you can hike maybe 40 feet down to and get to some really good little waterfalls along the river.

Just explore the area by the river and you'll be able to find tons of beautiful little areas and angles to shoot the river. Exploring the area is a blast because it's such a beautiful place and there's so much to see. Happy shooting!
