Grand View Point

If you have one hour in Moab, Utah, head to Grand View Point inside Canyonlands National Park. You ideally should plan multiple days to explore the many amazing features and trails of Moab and its two National Parks (Canyonlands and Arches), but if you see only one thing, it should be the view from the edge of the Island in the Sky District.

From the Island in the Sky Visitor Center (40 mins from Moab), it's a 12 mile drive around the twists and turns on Grand View Point Rd. to the Grand View Point parking lot. You'll pass Mesa Arch and other stops along the road that you should definitely make time for, but the real treat is the incredibly unique view from Grand View Point. Some of the best scenic locations are just steps from your vehicle. If you're feeling adventurous and have time before sunset, take the 2 mile round trip hike along the edge of Island in the Sky on the Grand View Point trail. It's very flat, not too challenging, and will separate you from the majority of people at the trailhead.

Bring you camera, especially if it's around sunset. The amazing color and saturation rivals the Grand Canyon sunsets. You wont be disappointed. There are plenty of spots to post up with a significant other and watch the 100s of canyons of Canyonlands fade into darkness.

Afterward, if there is still light, explore more of Canyonlands' Island in the Sky district. Or head back into town and take in Moab with a beer at Moab Brewing where you'll run into all kinds of adventurers visiting and living in Moab. The Red Rye IPA is a Moab favorite.
