Hike to Three Ponds

This relatively easy trail is great for the whole family. There are multiple alternate trails branching off from this route, as well, so you can turn this into a much longer hike if you like.

Start on the Hidden Pinyon Trail, which has a well-marked turn-off for Three Ponds Trail. The start of the hike has a small amount of scrambling on sandstone, after which you will wander through the sagebrush on a sandy trail.

The trail then leads into a large wash with huge walls to either side, measuring hundreds of feet tall – my favorite part of the trail! Continue on towards the back of the canyon, where you will find the ponds. In the middle of summer, the ponds may have dried up, but this still makes for a scenic hike, regardless.

Keep in mind that the majority of the trail is in sand, which is more tiring than hiking on a hard surface.
