These rock formations off of US-89 are completely out of this world and will make you feel like you've taken a trip to the moon!
Located just off of the side of the US-89 highway between Springdale and Page (about 40 miles east of Kanab) you'll probably drive right past this park and have to pull a u-turn (I did!), but it's worth the stop! Keep your eyes out on the North side of the highway for a little parking lot with a small sign you won't even be able to read from the road!
The Toadstools are part of the Grand Staircase National Park and is only 0.8 miles each way from the parking lot to the toadstools. It's a relatively flat hike and although the terrain is uneven it's definitely dog and family friendly (I saw both dogs and children there).
When you arrive at the toadstools you're going to feel like you've somehow gone to the moon, it's simply out of this world how this area looks! The toadstools are created over time from boulders that have fallen from the surrounding cliffs. As the rock erodes at different times it leaves what looks like giant toadstools randomly scattered across the otherwise barren land.
