About this place

Added by Tyler McFall

Hike to the most northern peak on the majestic Mount Timpanogos. The crowd is usually pretty limited on the North Summit.

To reach the north summit of Timpanogos you start out just like you would if you were going to the main summit. There are 2 different trail options to choose from; The Aspen Grove trail near Sundance Ski resort or the Timpanooke trail through American Fork Canyon. I will put the start point on the map at the Aspen Grove Trailhead. The trail is extremely easy to follow. It is a gradual incline up to Emerald Lake. Follow the trail past the lake and shack up to the saddle. From the saddle, instead of heading south to the true summit, you will take a right and head north. Hike along the ridge for about a mile and a half until you reach the north summit. The scrambling is very moderate along the ridge. The best part about the north summit is that you will most likely have it to yourself. The true summit sees hundreds of people a day during the summer months but rarely anyone goes to the north summit, which is just as spectacular.
