About this place

Added by John Maurizi

A short loop trail along a rock outcrop with many dinosaur bones. The interpretive signs are a bonus and very informative.

This short trail is located off Mill Canyon rd about 15 minutes north of Moab.  A short walk from the parking area leads to an established interpretive trail with signage of where to look for the fossils and a description of what type of dinosaur they belong to. Several different types of dinosaurs can be found here. Some fossils are very easy to see and make out. Others not so much. It is clear they are different from the surrounding rock they are embedded in but you will only know the part of the body from the signage.

This area was marsh land 150 million years ago. If a dinosaur died in this marsh, minerals from the water would seep into the bones. These minerals solidified the bones over time which allows us to see them today. A very easy trail that is looped back to the car by way of a dry wash.

Fun for kids
The kids loved this trail and searching for fossils. Bring sunscreen because it gets pretty hot and sunny, but fun little hike!
