Explore the two rivers define Canyonlands National Park's three districts, which are visible from the overlook (1100').
The Green River starts in Wyoming and flows 730 miles before joining the Colorado River in Utah. Confluence Overlook Trail is located in the northern parts of the Needles district of Canyonlands National Park. At the southwest edge of the parking area, you will see where the trail starts. The trail is well-marked.
The trail immediately goes 150 vertical feet down the Big Spring Canyon to reach the bottom of the canyon. After that you’re essentially hiking through desert the entire way, but the trail is very clearly marked through the sand, and there are cairns along the parts of slickrock.
Once you reach the confluence overlook, It is about 1000ft drop down to the river. Looking to the north from the overlook, you’ll see the Green River on the left, merging with the Colorado River on the right. The Green River is a distinctively lighter brown color than the darker Colorado River.
