About this place

Added by Eric Bennett

Catch an amazing sunset over the Great Salt Lake. See herds of buffalo on the island. Accessible beaches if you want to bring your kayak or SUPYou can drive onto island or paddle over. Duration: A few hours.

This is a great place to catch a sunset with the herds of Buffalo grazing and the surrounding mountain ranges. With the clouds moving over the mountains and the water reflecting the sunset, you can get amazing shots if that's what you're interested in.

The smart move when heading there is to drive over with your significant other or good friends and pack up the picnic goods. You can take in the sunset and just hang out. Make sure you check what time the gate to the island is closed, because you want make sure you're not stuck there. It's also $10 per vehicle to drive onto the island.

If you're looking for a little bit of a more adventurous time out there, bring your SUP or Kayak and hit the water. There are several beaches you could launch from. The island is close enough to the east side of the lake that you could also paddle to it.

Make sure you bring your dog, you can walk out into the water pretty far as it's not too deep - plus, it's the closest thing Utah has to a beach.

Worth Every Smell
