Hike to Round, Sand, and Fish Lake in the Uinta Mountains

The Dry Fork Trailhead at the end of Weber Canyon Rd is the starting point for the hike to Round, Sand, and Fish Lakes in the Uinta Mountains of Utah. In the early spring and summer, this trail can be wet due to snowmelt runoff, but by mid-summer, it dries out and is a fantastic hike. The trail is rocky and a constant climb so you have to pay attention to your foot placement so that you don't twist an ankle. There is no cell service, so it would be a bummer to get injured, although there are typically plenty of people hiking the trail during the weekend.

Round Lake is the first lake you will come to (about 3.3 miles) and is gorgeous with green grass all around. People say it has the best fishing and there are a bunch of camp spots around the lake. 
After Round Lake, you will pass through a couple of meadows on your way to Sand Lake which is about another .7 miles past Sand Lake. It's tough to camp by Sand Lake since it has steep inclines down to the lake, but there are a few spots. 

A third of a mile past Sand Lake is Fish Lake. There are a bunch of campsites around the lake. My favorite is to hike past Fish Lake to one of the many small lakes in the basin. There are no trails to these lakes. You'll need to use your route finding/GPS skills to find these gems, but you will experience the solitude and beauty since few people trek past Fish Lake. If you have the time, climb to the top of the ridge where you'll see gorgeous views of the Fish Lake Basin below, Cuberant Lake, The Notch, and Hayden Peak.
