Broken Bow Arch

The trailhead starts at the Willow Gulch Trailhead, located just off of Hole in the Rock Road in the Grand Staircase -Escalante National Monument. The coordinates for the trailhead are 37.324812,-111.023019. To get there head east on highway 12 out of Escalante, Utah until you get to Hole in the Rock Road. Follow Hole in the Rock Road 41.6 miles until you see a road on the left. Follow that about a half mile till you come to a parking lot.

From the trailhead take the dirt path downhill past a rock formation called the Mortarboard Rock, that almost looks like a graduation cap. Soon you will enter a sandstone canyon and follow that canyon about 2.5 miles until you see Broken Bow Arch. The coordinates for the arch are 37.328576,-110.999914.

The arch got its name from an early explorer who found the remnants of a broken native american bow underneath the arch. There are a lot of good camping spots near the arch if you want to spend the night or you could continue on down the canyon for a longer hike. Or you can return the way you came and head back to the trailhead.
