About this place

Added by Stefan Erickson

This is a Challenging and rewarding trail with a Lake attraction at the top. You will see the Autumn leaves emerging and Dense woods with large boulders.

The trailhead begins at the Solitude Nordic Center. Walking around Silver Lake, you get a chance to observe the ducks and lovely wetlands area. This trail then leads you into the lower aspens, and if you are hiking just as fall colors have begun to emerge, they create a glowing effect in the woods. A cat track takes you across a crumbling boulder field, followed by a short yet steep hike to the dam of Twin Lakes Reservoir. Once on the dam you can head left or right (depending on what side of the dam you are on) around the lake, towards the end of the summer the water level decreases, leaving more mountain beach to walk on.

The surrounding woods are filled with massive boulders accompanied by moss coverings. Keep your eyes peeled because moose are often spotted in the surrounding area. This is a truly wonderful environment to wander around in and free your mind. Bring your camera when the leaves are changing and photo-taking is at an all time high!

Camping here is a wonderful experience, often the weather is quite mild, and temperatures drop at night so bring layers! There are many sites neighboring the lake, although the woods offer unlimited potential with camp spots. Be safe with your fires and don't forget, pack it in pack it out.
