About this place

Added by Sam Mauldin

At just under an hour drive from downtown San Antonio you could be paddling the gorgeous Guadalupe River. Short day trips or multi-day camping, it's up to you.

Take the short drive up to the friendly little town of Sisterdale to find the General Store. Here you can safely leave your vehicle, rent kayaks and arrange shuttles for your trip of choice. There are plenty of different stretches of river to fit any adventure from short day floats to multi-day kayak/canoe river camping trips. For the more avid paddler there is a 25.3 mile paddle from Sisterdale to fm 3351 that has everything from fun small rapids (class I maybe II) to short portages, beautiful Cypress trees, deep fishing holes and plenty of gravel banks to camp on. There are also a few house-size boulders in the middle of the river at some spots so don't forget you climbing shoes and chalk.

Be sure to thoroughly check weather conditions before planning to camp along the river. If the grounds are saturated the river is prone to flash flooding and can be extremely dangerous.

For camping along the river we are protected by whats called the "Gradient Boundary" here in Texas. Please familiarize yourself with this law before heading out on any river camping trip.

Was only there a couple hours
It’s a beautiful river with lots of trees around. It gets pretty deep sometimes but you can always find a spot of shallow area. ...
