About this place

Added by Erin Newman-Mitchell

The Inks Lake State Park Loop is moderate trail with many interesting geographical features unique to the Texas Hill Country.

The Inks Lake State Park Trail is a 4.7 mile loop trail located within Inks Lake State Park, just outside of Burnet, Texas. Only a small portion of the trail follows the lake, then it veers off through the rocky and hilly terrain of the Texas Hill Country. The trail is only partially shaded at times (during the summer time make sure to brings plenty of water, as it gets extremely hot!).

The trail is often used by hikers, bicyclists, and fishermen. Dogs are more than welcome, but be sure to pick up after them! Another thing to note is during the hot months, snakes can be common. This park has more of a desert feel, so just be weary.

The park is also located far enough away from the city that the stars are pretty visible in the night sky. It's an excellent park to camp and take night hikes at.

As for handicap accessibility- this trail is not very accessible. The elevation and tough terrain make it difficult for such circumstances. There are however other places located within the park that are handicap accessible.
