A beautiful, but slightly challenging trail with an abundance of wildlife and nature.
Main Loop and Juniper Trail is a 2.7 mile loop hike located in Northwest San Antonio within Friedrich Park. This park and trail are both highly trafficked and popular for hiking.
Portions of the trail are paved, however there are parts that are not and have a dirt/natural path. This trail is primarily shaded and during the spring time features an abundance of wildflowers. It's a great trail for exercising and hiking and is very well maintained. It is important to stay on the trail as the city is trying to preserve the nature. The park is known for its wildlife and attraction of endangered bird species, so keep a look out!
There are bathrooms and water fountains located at the trailhead, near the parking lot. But bringing your own personal water bottles is strongly recommended. Parking is plentiful but because of how popular the park is it can fill up quickly. However parallel street parking is available outside of the parking lot. Dogs are NOT allowed.
