Dante's, Lower Purgatory Creek and Blue Trail Loop is a 2.7 mile loop hike located in San Marcos, Texas. Located outside of downtown, it serves as a great nature trail for hiking, biking, and general exercise. It's primarily shaded and is a very moderate trail. It is not heavily trafficked, especially on weekdays. It is family- and dog-friendly, just be sure to clean up after your pup! During the spring this area is a great place to see the booming of Texas wildflowers.
Parking is easily accessible and can be found on the corner of RM 12 and Hunter Rd. Due to the nature of the trail, it is not easily accessible to those with mobility limitations. There is a single Porta Potty at the entrance, but no other bathrooms are located within the trail system. There is also a trash can, map, and dog poop bags available at the trailhead.
NOTE: Please be advised that though this is a loop trail, it is part of an intricate trail system with many branching trails and it can it's extremely easy to get turned around in. Be sure to have GPS or your phone on you in order to find your way back.
