Moss Lake primitive campground requires a ~2-mile hike to reach and offers a unique camp spot with a completely different view of the infamous Enchanted Rock.
Enchanted Rock is one of the most popular destinations in Texas, but if you want to enhance your experience at this treasured site, I suggested primitive camping at Moss Lake. The majority of the campsites are drive-up or walk-in and become overcrowded, especially on the weekends. Moss Lake is the furthest campground from the parking lot and generally has very few campers since it requires you to carry all of your camping gear for two-miles.
In order to reach Moss Lake you'll park your car on the far end of the parking lot, past all of the drive-up campsites (start location on the map). From here you will follow the Loop Trail for 1.6 miles until you reach Moss Lake Trail. Once you reach this juncture you will take the right to follow the trail passing Moss Lake on your right. Continue along the trail and it will bend back around to the actual camp ground; there are ten sites to choose from. It's really helpful to grab a park map at headquarters before you start!
