Wade and swim in cold river water at Buffalo Creek Falls. You can also fish for rainbow and small brown trout here.
Buffalo Creek is located near Rutledge, Tennessee and Cherokee lake. It is a wilderness area with a fish hatchery run by TWRA and a few acres of game land. You can drive straight up to the falls then hike around a little bit through the river to see the rest of the river and fishing areas. The best place to fish is right under the falls. The TWRA stocks trout right under the falls they can vary in size most are edible size. Swimming at the falls can be quite cooling during the summer. The water stays around 65 degrees so it can be very chilling around the spring, fall, and winter. Around the falls is some deep pools of water to swim in. Also near the area is the Buffalo Creek fish hatchery that you can visit and explore around the Buffalo Creek wilderness area. For more information on the trout fishing you can visit the TWRA website.
