Hazard Cave Loop

Hazard Cave is a gorgeous very large sandstone formation. The hike is located in Pickett State Park which is right next to Big South Fork National Recreation Area. This hike is the shortest option to get to Hazard Cave. If you are looking for a longer hike you can take the entire loop hike to get to the cave. This hike is only .3 of a mile total but has a lot of stairs to get down to the cave. 

The hike starts off with a pull-off on Highway 154. There is parking for 10-15 cars so there is plenty of parking. The trailhead is clearly marked and immediately starts to descend. There are stairs that take you down the steepest part. At the split in the trail make sure to take the left which is labeled on the sign. After the split, the cave is only a few hundred yards further. When you reach the boardwalk make sure to stay on it. Walking off the boardwalk could damage the stream and ecosystem. After the boardwalk, you can see the cave. When in the cave make sure to walk through the sand and check out the cool sandstone ceiling and drip formations. The hike does continue along the loop; however, Hazard Cave is the main attraction along this hike.
