All that stands between you and sweeping views of Lookout Valley and surrounding mountains is a short 0.1 mile walking trail. All within a 20-minute drive of downtown Chattanooga, this western Lookout Mountain spot is quite popular in the area.
Sunset Rock provides spectacular access to the Bluff and Gum Spring Trails for hiking, is home to some of the top trad climbing routes in the area, and is perfect for residents and visitors alike who are seeking a great view of the Chattanooga area. Parking is allowed in a tiny lot provided on West Brow Drive and leads visitors to a short 0.1 mile dirt and stone trail down to the viewpoint.
Upon arrival, be cautious since there are no railings near the edge, but enjoy the presence of local hikers, beautiful sunsets, and climbers staying active in the area. If wanting a hike in the vicinity, walk left from Sunset Rock down to the Bluff Trail intersection then head left for Covenant College or hike right to get to Craven's House.
