Home to more than 50 species of freshwater mussels and 151 species of fish, enjoy a quiet paddle down North America's most biologically diverse river located in the heart of Tennessee. You can find the state's longest river just 50 minutes from Nashville.
Start this canoe adventure from Milltown Dam for an easy five-mile paddle down a wide, scenic river. During the warmer months, you will undoubtebly encounter a variety of wildlife, from water to land. Take your time as you float around small islands and rocks, and dock your boat for a quiet picnic, fishing spot or place to sunbathe.
It takes 4-5 hours on average to complete this trip, but the adventure doesn't have to end at the fifth mile. We normally end ours at the local canoe/kayak rental business (where we get our boat), but because this river stretches 284 miles, there are multiple access points in which you can begin or end this beautiful float.
