About this place

Added by Jess Fischer

This wonderful tent-only campsite located in Rock Island State Park provides spacious campsites, a spot to back in your car, a fire pit, an electrical hookup and even fresh water.

This little campground is nestled in Rock Island State Park. There are two campgrounds, this one is specifically tents only. Each campsite is pull in and provides you with enough room to set up two tents. In addition each campsite has a four sided picnic bench, fire pit, trash can, charcoal grill, electrical hookup, and well water. At the front entrance of the camp there is a bath house with showers, toilets and sinks.

The park itself has a beach area with an amazing rock wall, Twin Falls (pictured above), another lookout to two other waterfalls and the river gorge, and much much more.

When booking at the campground try to get on of the three campgrounds on the back of the loop; they have the most space and you will feel farther away from other campers! You can make your reservation here: https://tnstateparks.itinio.com/rock-island.

This was one of our best adventures this summer for my family. The kids had an amazing time and there was so much to do in an easy to navigate area. Our kids are asking when we will go back and the answer is soon. Whether you want to hike, swim, camp or just jump off rocks you have a place at Rock Island. We live in Nashville and it was a very do-able day trip and we are wanting to stay the weekend. If you are bringing kids you do need to be careful because there is a current that will have then down river if not paying attention. Just keep an eye on them or make sure they are strong swimmers. I hope you enjoy this park as much as my family did.
