Hike the Custer Skywalk to Big Rock Observation Point

Park on the South end of 6th Street at Harbach Park in Custer, just 2 blocks off Main Street. The entrance to the trail is marked by an archway and a "Custer Skywalk" sign. The path is a dirt/small gravel trail that has stairs built into the hillside. To get to the first observation point it is about a three tenths of a mile, there is a shelter lookout spot. good spot to take a break and take some photos. 

The trail continues from there following a dirt road for about a quarter of a mile. From the road you will see a sign pointing up a path and set of stairs up to Big Rock Observation point. From the observation point you will have a tremendous 360 view of Custer and the surrounding area. You will be able to see Black Elk Peak (formerly known as Harney Peak), the Needles, Buckhorn Mountain, Calamity Peak, and Mount Coolidge fire Lookout. 

Please respect the signs posted, and the area by picking up all of your trash. Camping is not allowed. 

When you are finished with the hike, downtown Custer has numerous places to stop in and get a bite to eat, like Black Hills Burger and Bun Co., Bulgin' Bull, Sage Creek, Pizza Works, Pizza Mill, just to name a few.
