About this place

Added by Alyssa Lewis

The Congaree National Park is a slice of the world that is nearly untouched by humans. The slow moving river that runs through this park is the perfect place to get lost in a kayaking adventure.

This river has several points throughout the park where you can launch your kayaks and canoes. The river is marked with mile markers along the way so you can count down to the next launch point. This river is actually so slow moving that you can kayak upstream or downstream. All along the river you can experience wildlife at its finest. Stumbling across deer, fish and turtles is not uncommon in this area. The river runs through deep, lush forest which can make for some great photos. Also, there are several embankments on the river where you can dock your kayak or canoe and explore the nature trails near the river. This trip is perfect if you're looking for a relaxing day floating down the river or if you're looking to challenge yourself and paddle for hours.
