About this place

Added by Lisa Bao

Get amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge at this secluded and away from the crowds beach.

If you're looking for one of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marshall's Beach gives you just that without the tourist crowds of Baker Beach.

This small and hidden beach offers a narrow stretch of sand for those looking to throw a frisbee around or just hang out with friends. As it's tucked away next to some steep cliffs, it's quite tranquil with crashing waves being the only sound at times. There's also a stretch of black rocks that offer some interesting composition choices for photographers. If you're here during sunset, as the waves pull back from the sand, it provides a beautiful reflection of the Golden Gate Bridge.

To get here, park at one of two entrances found on Lincoln Blvd. One entrance is just south of Fort Scott, on the west side of the road near the "Coyote Crossing" sign, and the other is about .5 mile further down Lincoln Blvd. with a small "Batteries to Bluffs" sign on the west side of the road. Follow the Batteries to Bluffs Trail toward Marshall's Beach. Approximately 400 feet of stairs will take you from the cliff down to the beach.

Things to know:

  • Since it is a hidden and somewhat secluded beach, Marshall's Beach is known to attract nudists, so probably not the best place to bring children.
  • The stairs are well maintained, but may be a tough workout on the way back up for some.

The beach area is amazing. Depending on the time you go, you may see a bunch of old naked white dudes enjoying life. Enjoy!
