About this place

Added by Josiah Roe

Gorgeous views of Napa Valley overlooking vineyards, the Central Coast Mountains, and the town of Calistoga.

Bald Hill is the first serious peak/summit that can be reached via the Oat Hill Mine Trail as it breaks from the more popular loop and heads into the heart of Robert Louis Stevenson State Park.

To get there you can either begin at the less frequently used trailhead at Picket and Rosedale Roads heading 1.6 miles uphill till it intersects with the identically named Oat Hill Mine trail going right for approximate .5 miles to the summit or you can begin at the more "official" Oat Hill Mine Trail at the intersection of Lake County Highway and Silverado Trail. From here the summit is about 3 miles up, staying to the left.

During the winter and spring months rain and fog are common, but the wildflowers, greenery and Spanish moss provide an atmosphere akin to Ireland. In the summer the golden hills overlook the vineyards providing stunning vistas.
